Literature Text

“Life's but a walking shadow, a poor player, that struts and frets his hour upon the stage, and then is heard no more; it is a tale told by an idiot, full of sound and fury, signifying nothing.”
Indeed it is. Actors upon the stage strut and fret about,
Some of them raging around without,
A mask to conceal their true thoughts.
Even though some truly ought.
But alas, the truly unique, the individual minds,
Stay in the back with masks, hiding behind the lines.
Thinking, watching,
Waiting, observing,
As the majority rage about with masks on, insisting all the world know their names,
The masked ones stay behind, covering their pains.
Each has a different mask, some have even more.
Trying to forget those painful years of yore,
With a happy, joyous face painted on black or white,
Never emerging, recoiling from the spotlight.
When one’s role is next,
He may temporarily break his eternal hex,
And remove his mask for a brief time,
Say just a few words of his mind, and fall back in line.

The audience wants more,
They beg for an encore,
But alas, he removes himself from the light, forevermore.

The few masked ones sigh in relief when the show’s reached its end,
For they can return to their rooms and to their wounds, attend.
But unfortunately, they never truly get to mend,
Unfortunately, they have no time.
They have to fall back into line,
“Places please, masks on, it’s showtime.”
Yay for ripping off real artists to make myself feel like one: William Shakespeare, Macbeth, Act V, Scene V, Page 2.
Really, pardon me, any Shakespeare fans for using this quote. I kinda feel like a dick for using such a reputable artists work in one of my meager spurts of words, but it seemed to fit. Pardon me, Shakespeare fans and Shakespeare's ghost.

Anywho, like I said, I've been inclined to continue on the keyboard with a new streak lately. I'm not sure if this is a return or just another pulse of a dying horse. We'll find out later. In the meantime, I hope the few people that still check my page enjoy this, and please, leave your opinions in the comments. I always love reading them, and sometimes taking them into action.

Thank you all!

I really enjoyed this, the second to last paragraph was my favorite ^^ Also, 'he may temporarily break his eternal hex' was a great line!
