Literature Text

The first wall.
I’m quiet,
Scorning all,
Unwilling to pry it,
And let anyone past,
Listening to music,
Alone in my glass.
Cynicism and sadness fuel it.
Impenetrable by most,
Well, the ones willing to try.
Because I’ve fortified it the most.
I wish they wouldn’t try.

The second wall.
I’m loud,
Loving all,
Even a little proud.
But I still cannot feel,
Anything happening outside,
For this wall is made of steel,
And isn’t really me inside.

The third wall,
That only one has broken,
Afraid of all,
I’ve finally spoken.
Scared and vulnerable,
Quivering and shaking,
Frightened and fragile,
My heart is quaking.
I opened up to one,
She had the best intentions,
But now, I shun.
I regret my affection.
This wall is easy
To break through,
But they never see,
How hard the next will prove.

The fourth wall.
In the dark alone,
Attacking all,
Trying so hard to atone.
I opened up to you
And you destroyed me,
So now I hate you,
And what you’ve done to me.
Brought to a revelation,
Anger and rage
Fuel my fixation,
On forgetting your face.
You gave up here,
You didn’t even try.
So I don’t want to hear
Another lie.

Inside the walls...

I had hope for her,
but all hope does is hurt.
Well, this is another one that I think is a clunker, but all of the ones I think are bad are getting the best responses lately, so we'll see how it goes.
